The Internet of Things has created many smart innovative applications, such as smart cities, smart agriculture, smart factories and so on. How are they interconnected? The key is real-time data acquisition and analysis, using various types of sensors. It plays a crucial role in making Internet of Things devices. Sensor technology is innovating at a rapid pace. Sensors detect external information, replacing it with signals that humans and machines can distinguish.

Sensor technology in the Internet of Things makes it possible to collect data in almost any situation. For example, we use sensors in medical, nursing, industry, logistics, transport, agriculture, disaster prevention, tourism, regional business and so on. In other words, the market is still developing a variety of sensors as the impact of the role they play in these areas continues to grow.

Here are some of the most commonly used sensors in Internet of Things devices, including the following eight categories: temperature sensor, pressure sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer and gyro sensor, infrared sensor, optical sensor, gas sensor, smoke sensor.

1. Temperature sensor

Temperature sensors sense and measure temperature and convert it into electrical signals. They play an influential role in the environment, agriculture and industry. For example, these sensors can detect the temperature of soil, which is beneficial for crop production. There are many kinds of temperature sensors using NTC thermistors, resistance temperature detectors, RTDS, thermocouples and temperature differences. They are efficient, easy to install, and reliably responsive to human activity. RTDS studies the relationship between metal and temperature because the resistance of a device is proportional to temperature.
